Attention All Current and Former Service Members from Ft. Campbell to Andrews AFB and Beyond: Defective Ear Plugs

Our country’s service members are the best in the world. And that is not just us proudly saying that; Business Insider has ranked the top 25 militaries in the world and the United States is first based on a number of factors. One of those factors is the fact that the United States spends over $500 billion more on defense than the second place finisher, Russia. So a reasonable person would expect that our military personnel would be outfitted with the best equipment but that is not always the case.

Recently, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) settled a case with 3M for $9.1 million dollars because the DOJ alleged 3M had knowingly supplied our soldiers with defective combat ear plugs that could result in hearing loss, tinnitus and other problems. It is trick or treat time again. The anticipation around our house is almost feverish. Our daughter will be going as grapes this year, and we will post a photo later in the week. If Readily Available Safety Technology Could Help Reduce the Increasing Number of Deadly Tractor Trailer Accidents, Why Is It Not Being Mandated?

Semi-trucks accidents and other large truck accidents are killing roughly 4,300 people a year in this country, and the number is increasing. Since 2009, deadly tractor-trailer accidents are up 28%. Crash-avoidance technology is becoming more common place in passenger vehicles with 41% of new cars using collision warning systems with automatic braking. In fact, car manufacturers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have agreed to a regulation that requires this technology be in all passenger cars by 2022 and in trucks by 2025.
